A Proclamation of Good Things

"Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle..." Psalm 24:7-8

Our first real snow came last night in the form of a white, peaceful wonderland and transitioned through the night to blizzard conditions, bringing with it two baby girls sick with the stomach flu, freezing wind gusts of 35-40 mph, very little sleep, and...fear. Our current temperature is 9 degrees with a wind chill factor making that -2 degrees, snow is still falling, and the wind has not let up. Our quaint, historic home we chose for its uniqueness lacks a bit in the warmth department. Definitely a new experience for this California girl, missing home, and the beautiful people of The Rock.

So I decided to give the devil a black eye today and proclaim the goodness of God! The bible tells us to not be afraid of "sudden fear (or disaster, terror)!" However, it does say that what we ought to fear is Lord:

Psalm 33:8 states, "Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him."

Psalm 25:14, "The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant."

Psalm 34:7, "The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them."

Proverbs 14:27, "The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death."

Proverbs 1:7, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

So today I am thankful for many things; the protection of the Holy Ghost, the opportunity to live for God, to have been "raised" by strong, godly Christian examples, the precious blood of Jesus Christ, deep friendships, a God-fearing husband, children that have a hunger to see revival, and simple things like food in the cupboards, hot water, shelter...and on a day like today, oreo cookies and a good book! :-)

One more thing to be thankful for...blizzard or no blizzard, God is still reaching for the lost souls of this world! Thank you Jesus!

Well at least if you have cold weather you have snow, all we got was RAIN. I hate rain. Yeah, I know there are good things about rain too but not for this California girl!
